The game was back and forth throughout, and players from both teams shined. Billy Rose, Senior Forward for White Bear Lake sealed the game with an overtime goal.
White Bear Lake: The Bears work well together as a well-rounded unit. They have started the season off strong and intend to bring this level of play the rest of the season. White Bear Lake proved to be the more physical team last night. The team is generally well-conditioned and were able to keep the pressure on the entire game.
- #10- Billy Rose, Senior- Forward: Billy had an outstanding performance against the Pioneers. He had 2 goals and an assist on the night, his final goal was a well-placed one-timer which went top shelf over Hill-Murrays goalie Remington Keopple. Billy is an aggressive player and takes chances when he sees an opening. His stickhandling and quickness give him the edge he needs to get around defenders. Billy Rose is a leader on the ice and will help the Bears continue winning throughout the rest of the season.
- #8- Sam Newpower, Senior- Forward: Sam won a majority of the faceoffs he took last night which helped his team throughout the game. His lone goal came at 16:44 in the third period to bring the game into overtime. Sam’s strengths are his quickness, and his ability to win faceoffs. He worked hard throughout the whole game and is a team player, often making decent passes to his linemates. Sam will continue to help out the Bears offense through his tremendous effort as the season progresses.
- #9- Lleyton Roed, Junior- Forward: Lleyton is a hard skater and he is strong on his skates which give him an advantage over some of his opponents. He came out strong from the very beginning of the game and continued to work hard throughout overtime. Lleyton set up his linemates with perfectly placed passes and worked the zone with intensity.
Hill- Murray: The Pioneers fought hard all game long, their first goal did not come until the third period. They scored again at 12:28 in the third period with Charlie Strobel putting the puck in with a backhand deflection in front of the net. Hill- Murray works together smoothly and were able to keep the pressure on all game long.
- #27- Charlie Strobel, Senior- Forward: Charlie is one of the Pioneers top players, he is fast, strong on his skates, and makes big plays. His goal in the third period helped Hill- Murray gain the lead for the first time during the contest. Charlie presents a captivating sense of confidence and it shows when he glides down the ice and puts the puck in the net. Look for Charlie to rack up big numbers throughout the rest of the season.
- #7- Nick Pierre, Sophomore- Forward: Nick has a great set of hands and can stickhandle around the opposing defenders easily. He is shifty and is able to work well in traffic. Nick passes the puck well and is a team player. His work ethic stands out as his play is equivalent to players a couple of years older than him. Nick has set himself up to have a great season and an incredible high school career.
- #12- Jared Jensen, Junior- Forward: Jared played an excellent game and is one of the Pioneers most physical players. He works the body well and sets himself up in a good position. He had a couple of nice faceoff wins against White Bear Lake and he was able to help his linemates advance down the ice. Jared passes the puck well and will continue to help the Pioneers throughout the rest of the season.
