How last season went
With the Eagles going 0-25 during the 2019-20 regular season, there is not a whole lot of positive things to write. It was a tough go for Rochester Lourdes, which averaged less than two goals per game while allowing more than 6 goals per game.
Despite a winless campaign, Rochester Lourdes did make a pair of teams sweat through one-goal games. That included Luverne and Waseca.
However, the Bluejays extracted some revenge in the Section 1A play-in round as Waseca topped the Eagles 2-1.
Who’s back and who’s gone
It’s beyond fair to say the 2019-20 Rochester Lourdes players took their lumps. But thankfully for some, they will have a chance to redeem themselves next season. Charlie Kielty, Jack Kleinschmidt and Braden Magnuson are all set to return after combining for 14 goals and 18 assists last season. Samuel Decker is also set to return to the net after posting a .856 save percentage last season in 24 appearances.
One player who will not have that chance is graduating senior Harrison Albrecht. He departs after leading the team with 19 points (4 goals, 15 assists) last season.
What to expect next season
As mentioned, there’s not a lot of significant success to point to when discussing Rochester Lourdes. But it’s safe to say the Eagles will make improvements next season. Much of that could be tied to Jeff True. He takes over the team as coach following a successful stint with the Rochester Lourdes girls’ team, a program that rose to contender status in Class 1A.
