Typically, it involves each player chipping in equally to contribute to a common team-goal. This week I’m previewing teammates that go above and beyond to compliment each other and I will preview their trends heading into the 2020-21 season.
Blake High School:
For Minnesota star-power, this team is loaded. When you look at the games of this pairing you see intelligent, poised scorers that can explode for 2-3 goals and 3-4 points any given game. Joe Miller and Tristan Broz are dynamic teammates that give Blake an edge competing. Miller scored 59 points (25 goals and 34 assists) last season as Blake has developed into a power-house since joining the big boys at Class AA.
Broz was a huge complimentary piece for the Bears for their Minnesota State Tournament appearance. Broz added 56 points (29 goals and 27 assists) last season. The duo proved to be a lethal one-two punch before falling in the State Tournament semi-finals to Eden Prairie 4-1. Eden Prairie eventually lost to Hill-Murray in the State Finals 4-1. They will look to continue where they left off this season and have both chose to commit to the University of Minnesota to continue playing after High School.
Eden Prairie High School: Carter Batchelder has a magnificent scoring touch around the net, contributing with 24 points last season (16 goals and 8 assists). I expect to see more of that magic he had last season with fellow Eagle Luke Mittelstadt, who added 28 points (4 goals, 24 assists), respectively.
Last season the State Tourney runner-up used strong work ethic and hard-nosed one-on-one plays to win puck-battles along boards. These two bring a relentless work ethic to the rink each day and are blessed with uncanny vision for finding open teammates. Their skills are best exhibited when they use their quick-release shots for precisely-aimed one-timers and look forward to seeing them on full display this season.
