SubscribeThis exciting Hockey Night in Minnesota game between Benilde St. Margarets and Mahtomedi did not disappoint. Midway through the 2nd frame BSM took a 3-0 lead. But Mahtomedi battled back and made it a great game. Overall, the final score was 3-2 with BSM picking up a clutch win against the defending Class A champs to remain undefeated early in the shortened season. Here is a look at some of the top performers from the game.
Top Performers
Tristan Sarsland | Junior | 6’0 180lbs | Defensemen
The young Colorado College commit looked great in this Wednesday night game. He had 2 points (1g, 1a) and he was also solid defensively. He has a heavy shot, active stick in the D zone, and he is not afraid to play offense. He joined the rush on multiple occasions throughout the game helping his team generate offense against the defending champs. Not to mention the 16 year old defenseman is currently tied for the Red Knights lead in points with 5 (3g, 2A) in 3 games. Look for this Madison Capitols prospect to be in the USHL before too long.
Ben Dardis | Junior | 5’8 160lbs | Goalie
While the 3rd year starting goalie for Mahtomedi didn’t pick up the win in this game, he held his team in this game. He looked fantastic in a game where the ice seemed to be tilted his way. He is an undersized goalie but he makes up for it with excellent depth, angles, and puck tracking. His rebound control was great in this game, he covered everything he could get his hands on.
Adam Marshall | Junior | 5’10 175lbs | Forward
The 17 year old winger had a 2 point night (1g, 1a) to put him at 5 points already through 3 games. The 2019 4th round pick of the Sioux Falls Stampede used his speed and his hockey IQ to cause havoc on the Mahtomedi defense. He is averaging over a point per game in his high school career and I don’t expect that to change.
