A great week of hockey played in the state last week. This week we feature a goalie and two skaters as the top performances of the week. Let’s get right into the 3 stars of the week!

      1. Jack Wieneke | Senior | 6’1, 165 lb Goalie | Maple Grove High School

Jack Wieneke has been having an outstanding senior year- he is 8-0 and has a very good 1.44 goals-against average. This past week he shut a very offensive potent Andover team to just 1 goal on 28 shots. That performance alone is worthy of the number one spot in the players of the week. Wieneke is a player to watch in Maple Grove’s hopeful state tourney run- top 5 AA goalie in the state.

      2. Brody Lamb | Junior | 6’0, 161 lb Forward | Dodge County High School

Brody Lamb has been tearing it up so far, but just getting noticed for his phenomenal week last week. he had 9 points in two games, with 5 goals and four assists. The first game last week was against Smiley and he had 3 goals and 2 assists. The second game last week was a win over Luverne, he had 2 goals and 2 assists. Brody has been putting up consistent numbers his whole career, even in bantams. One of the top juniors in the state and he is committed to the University of Minnesota.

      3. Layten Liffrig | Senior | 6’1, 174 lb Forward | Mankato East High School

Layten had a huge 8 point week this past week, in two wins for his Mankato East squad. Against Rochester/ John Marshall he had 6 points- 3 goals and 3 assists. Such a great game from Layten and he followed it up next game against rival Mankato West with 1 goal and 1 assist. Layten is on the watch list to receive college offer, as he has played in a ton of AAA and 18 U junior teams in his career. The huge matchup against Dodge County and Brody Lamb looms.
