SubscribeThe last article about the class 2022 rankings is about the newcomer defenseman. The state tourney starts today and two of these defensemen made it to the state tourney and are on the same team. Later today we will be starting the sophomore class rankings, in hopes to release them in a couple of days this week. Here are the three newcomers in the junior class rankings that are defenseman.
Finn Loftus | 6’0 Defenseman | Blaine | #42 Overall
Finn Loftus had a pretty solid season for a junior defenseman. He finished the season with 19 points in just 15 games with 6 goals and 13 assists. He ended off the season on a nice hot streak getting points in 4 of the last 5 games. He is ranked because he has had a fairly consistent year and nearly hitting the 20 point mark as a junior is pretty good. He might drop down in the next rankings because others had better stats, but he only played 15 games. Last year in his sophomore year he had 26 points with an astonishing 25 assists- he is a very good playmaker and defender and will keep getting better.
Weston Knox Weston Knox 5'9" | Defense Andover | 2022 State MN | 5’9 Defenseman | Andover | #45 Overall
Weston Knox Weston Knox 5'9" | Defense Andover | 2022 State MN had a pretty solid season for the Andover Huskies who are currently in the state tournament. Knox finished the regular season with 4 goals and 21 assists for 25 points. He still has his senior year next year and I think he can make some more noise when he has to do more for his team. 21 assists are very good and that means he accounted for 21 of his teams’ goals this season. Knox averaged 1.19 points per game and is on a four-game point streak. He had a big assist in his team’s win over Grand Rapids. Definitely deserves to be ranked as of now, and might get bumped up depending on how his state tournament goes.
Kyle Law Kyle Law 6'2" | Defense Andover | 2022 State MN | 6’2 Defenseman | Andover | Watch List
Kyle Law Kyle Law 6'2" | Defense Andover | 2022 State MN is our junior defenseman on the watch list. He is on the watch list because we did not feel like he was worthy enough of the top 50 yet, but we wanted to watch and make sure to put him in the next rankings. Law finished the regular season with 9 goals and 11 assists for 20 points. Those 9 goals are very impressive for a defenseman and that means he has a very good shot. Law is also on the Andover team that made the state tournament and he is teammates with Weston Knox Weston Knox 5'9" | Defense Andover | 2022 State MN . He started the season off a little bit better than he finished it, but I think he will be in the rankings next update when we expand to the top 75.
