Many players moved up significantly in this update as we went through all 150 players that were ranked. This class also has a lot of depth and is probably the deepest we have seen in quite awhile in Minnesota high school hockey. Once again in this edition of Stock Risers, we will feature 3 players, which includes a player from each position.
Chase Cheslock Chase Cheslock 6'3" | Defense Rogers | 2023 State MN | Defense | Rogers | Prep Hockey ’23’s #21
Chase Cheslock Chase Cheslock 6'3" | Defense Rogers | 2023 State MN clocks in at #21 in our updated rankings and is currently #6 at his position. Cheslock was a key player on this years Royals club as he produced much defensively and offensively. With 39 points on the season, Cheslock has proven to be a dangerous two-way-defender. Cheslock and Rogers came so close to a state tournament berth after falling to the eventual runner up in Maple Grove in the section finals, but the future is defiantly bright for next year and beyond for this program. In the 19th round of this years Phase II USHL draft, Cheslock was drafted by the Omaha Lancers at pick 281.
Will Ingemann Will Ingemann 5'11" | Goalie Wayzata | 2023 State MN | Goalie | Wayzata | Prep Hockey ’23’s #22
There is no question that Will Ingemann Will Ingemann 5'11" | Goalie Wayzata | 2023 State MN is a top 3 goaltender in this Class of 2023 right now. The numbers don’t lie as Ingemann had a GAA of 1.74 and 6 shutouts in his junior season. It always seems like the Trojans are very good defensively and that was the case again in 2021-2022. With tough, physical defenders and Ingemann between the pipes, Wayzata was once again a very tough team to score on. That will be the case in Ingemann’s senior season as well and I would consider the Trojan netminder a favorite in being a 2023 Frank Brimsek finalist.
Tommy Cronin Tommy Cronin 5'10" | Forward St. Thomas Academy | 2023 State MN | Forward | St. Thomas Academy | Prep Hockey ’23’s #23
Tommy Cronin Tommy Cronin 5'10" | Forward St. Thomas Academy | 2023 State MN was the Cadets points leader last season with 35, which included 17 goals and 18 assists. Cronin will play a huge leadership role in his senior season as St. Thomas Academy will be pretty young with quite a few players coming to the Cadets program from the West St. Paul Youth Hockey Association. I expect the Cadets will be very talented and legendary coach Mike Randolph taking over as the head coach at STA should help a lot. 2021-2022 was an odd season for this program as they did not make the state tournament, but I expect the Cadets to be the strongest team in their section as they have potent talent starting with Cronin.
