Play keeps heating up as it is about the halfway point of the season. With that being said.. here are the Prep Hockey 3 stars of the week.
1. Kyle Kukkonen | Senior | 5-10, 165 lb Forward | Maple Grove High School
Kyle Kukkonen is one of the top players in the state, he is a very crucial part of the title hopeful Maple Grove. Kyle has been putting up quietly a super good season, and a good shot at being a Mr. Hockey Finalist. He is the number one star this week because he put up 9 points in total last week in 2 games. The first game was against Dodge County, where he had 3 goals and 3 assists, hattrick in goals and assists. The next game was against a tougher opponent in Centennial, and Kyle put up 2 goals and 1 assist. Very solid week for Kyle, as he has been rather consistent this year- this week was his best week pointwise. Can Northern Michigan commit lead his Crimson to the state title?
2. Jackson Hallum | Senior | 6-0, 170 lb Forward | St. Thomas Academy
Michigan commit, Vegas Golden Nights NHL draftee had a super solid week this past week. Jackson had 8 points this week, with 3 of those points against Simley, and 5 against South St. Paul. He added to his season point total and is now at 17 points this far in 6 games. St Thomas looks like the favorite in their section so far. Our second star of the week Jackson Hallum has played a key part in that.
3. Kyle Ahlschlager | Sophomore | Forward | Waseca High School
Arguably one of the top A players this season, Ahlschlager has had an amazing start to the season. In just 6 games he has a total of 28 points, (14 G, 14 A). That is crazy for a sophomore no matter what the level of competition is like. Just this past week he had 10 points. The first game was against Fairmont where he had 2 goals and 5 assists for a total of 7 points. The second game of last week was when he played against Windom and had 2 goals and 1 assist. Ahlschlager is super deserving to be on the three stars of the week, as he has come out of nowhere and has been putting up some insane stats.
