Continue ReadingWe released the class of 2022 rankings yesterday and saw a lot of good traction off of those. Now we are going to break those rankings down in a couple of articles starting with this one today. Who are the senior players that are the best but aren’t committed to a college? We break that down today, and tomorrow we take a look at the top uncommitted defenseman. There are a lot of forwards that are deserving of going off to juniors then eventually playing D1, but here are our 5 players that are the most deserving of that!
#1- Max Strand Max Strand 5'9" | Forward Roseau | 2022 State MN | 5’9 Forward | #7 Overall Ranked ’22 | Roseau High School
Prep Hockey has Max Strand Max Strand 5'9" | Forward Roseau | 2022 State MN ranked as the top uncommitted forward in the state, as he is our #7 overall player and #5 forward. Max Strand Max Strand 5'9" | Forward Roseau | 2022 State MN is currently a frontrunner for the MR. Hockey awards; which awards the most outstanding senior in the state. Max Strand Max Strand 5'9" | Forward Roseau | 2022 State MN currently has 23 goals and 21 assists for 41 points in just 13 games. His junior season he finished with 39, and his sophomore season finished with 44. Strand is on pace for 80 points this season, and that should win him the MR. Hockey award. No matter what he does the rest of the season he is our top uncommitted forward in the state. Strand will likely either pick up some big offers or play in the NAHL or USHL to receive an offer. Strand is a future D1 player, barring something crazy.
#2- Joey DelGreco Joey DelGreco 5'10" | Forward Grand Rapids | 2022 State MN | 5’10 Forward | #9 Overall Ranked ’22 | Grand Rapids High School
DelGreco is another player up there in the MR. Hockey race this season. In Prep Hockeys’ eyes, it is currently a race between Strand and DelGreco. Regardless of the MR. Hockey race- Joey is having a huge year for the Thunderhawks. 13 games in so far this year he has 33 total points with 13 goals and 20 assists. He is averaging a very impressive 2.53 points per game. Joey is our 2nd best uncommitted forward, because of his career progression. He has always been a super talented player, as he had 85 total points in Bantams. In his Sophomore campaign he had 19 points, junior year he had 25. Now this year he is on pace to double what he did in his junior year and then some. DelGreco will be a touted player by college coaches, as he is an amazing playmaker. Every single year in high school and even Bantams he had more assists than goals. Coaches want that type of player on their team.
#3- Adam Marshall Adam Marshall 5'10" | Forward Benilde- St. Margarets | 2022 State MN | 5’10 Forward | #11 Overall Ranked ’22 | Benilde St. Margarets
Adam Marshall Adam Marshall 5'10" | Forward Benilde- St. Margarets | 2022 State MN is undeniably a top uncommitted player in the state. He has the same talent level as the players above him, just doesn’t have the stats to compare with them. BSM plays one of the toughest schedules in the state and Marshall has been a key player. Relatively slower start to this season stat-wise for Marshall, but he was really impressed in the HS Elite league with 33 points in 20 games against the top in-state talent. Marshall was actually drafted by the Sioux Falls Stampede in 2019 and appeared in 4 games for no points. After this season Marshall will be ready to take on Juniors and look to pick up a D1 offer. There isn’t a doubt in our minds that his future is very bright.
#4- Drew Fisher Drew Fisher 6'1" | Forward Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State MN | 6’1 Forward | #13 Overall Ranked ’22 | Cretin Derham Hall
Drew Fisher Drew Fisher 6'1" | Forward Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State MN just recently pushed his HS career point total past 100. Fisher is off to a slower start compared to his last seasons, but 43 points in his sophomore season proved he is a star. Fisher was on our preseason MR. Hockey favorites list in the offseason, and he is definitely still up there for MR. Hockey. Drew Fisher Drew Fisher 6'1" | Forward Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State MN currently has 20 points in 12 games- that is close to averaging 2 points per game. Fisher is on pace to hit over 40 points in his 3rd straight high school season. It is very hard to do that at a AA school in the metro area. This is one of the most intriguing uncommitted Forwards in the state, as he has been very consistent his whole career. Fisher is on watch after the season to either make a commitment or head to the USHL.
#5- Aj Carls Aj Carls 5'10" | Forward Centennial | 2022 State MN | 5’11 Forward | #17 Ranked ’22 | Centennial
Aj Carls Aj Carls 5'10" | Forward Centennial | 2022 State MN started his high school career at Coon Rapids and played a lot as a freshman. He totaled an astonishing 36 points in 25 games there his freshman year. He decided to transfer over to Centennial his Sophomore year and notched 40 points to 25 games. In his Junior year, he continued his prowess and had 31 points in 21 games. Carls got invited to the HS Elite League, which features the best players in the state. Currently, in his senior season, Carls has 17 points in 10 games. Carls has 124 total career points, which is up there for top all-time. Carls could finish with a very impressive 150 total career points. Carls likely won’t commit after this season, but after proving himself in juniors after this year he for sure could. Carls is currently leading the Centennial Cougars to a very impressive season. If they make state- he will have a lot of scouts to watch his talent in person.
